Our Story

For The Love of Paws was founded on a simple but radical idea: a veterinary clinic can sustain itself, serve its community, and reinvest its own revenue to make care accessible for the families who need it most. For TEN years now, we’ve operated as a nonprofit medical practice—not a shelter, not a charity clinic--using the net revenue from every appointment to directly subsidize discounted services for low‑income pet owners, adopted pets with medical needs, and community cats. Since opening our doors on April 1, 2016, we have provided over $1 million in discounted veterinary care to Douglas County families. |
These subsidies are not funded by outside grants or corporate sponsors; they are made possible because our clients choose us. Every paid visit helps another pet receive vaccines, microchips, diagnostics, or surgery at a reduced cost. It’s a modern, sustainable model of community veterinary medicine—one that keeps pets with their families and reduces the number of animals entering local shelters. Today, we continue this mission through affordable spay and neuter services, low‑cost vaccine and microchip clinics, and transparent pricing that reflects our commitment to access, dignity, and high‑quality care.
